We have been walking these mountains since we were kids carrying water for our parents. Now we carry headlamps, hot tea and a small stove, and we take you up in the dark so you can watch the whole island wake up beneath your feet.

Pick your mountain

Six trips, from a gentle river float to a full night on the crater rim. Every group is small and every guide is local.

The climb, hour by hour

This is the sunrise trek as we walk it most mornings. Scroll and follow the headlamps up the mountain.

  1. Basecamp tea

Ginger tea, headlamps on and a short talk about the path ahead.

  2. Through the pines

The steady part. Cool air, soft needles underfoot and a sky full of stars.

  3. Across the ash

Two steps up, one slide back. Your guide sets a slow rhythm and you follow it.

  4. The crater rim

Steam rises from the vents. Breakfast eggs go in to cook while the sky turns pink.

  5. Sunrise at the top

The sun comes up over the next island and the whole valley lights up below you.

Then jump in

Every trek ends near cold water. After six hours on the mountain, the plunge pool feels like a gift.
